Elves

Creatures born of the earth, and their ties to it are evident.

Many have hidden away with the first tree, but some very small settlements did remain behind to continue to tend for their creator.  The exception to this, are the Winter Elves.  There was little need for their duties at the First Tree.  There was much need for their duties as the wars of the gods were escelating.

The winter elves took their denial to return to the first tree as a great offense.  The society as a whole has fractured on how to deal with it.  Some view the cleansing of the plannet, and it's gods, as the only way to bring the elves back from the first tree.  By starting again, and planting those who took the earth from them, they hope to regrow anew.  Others, have rebelled from their duties entirely.  They open doors to the otherside, and allow death to return to the world of the living.

They mostly live in the mountains to the north, the land of eternal winter.  There it is cold, and little life grows.  It is claimed that the deadlands that suround them are of their own doing, while others claim it simply feels like home to them.

Occasionally a rouge elf will assault one of the northern cities.  They have yet to do any serious damage, but humans to the north are still often suspicious of all elves.
