Sudala - City of War
A large ring of mountains surrounds the forest valley containing Sudala, and Sudala claims dominion over all within the the ring. Several canyons wind their way down from the valley, and are guarded by several cities who aligned to help keep Sudala from another attempt to bring all of civilization under it's domain.
Obsidian towers pierce the sides of a large bluff on an island centering the Misty Lake. The black sand beaches surrounding the city betray the force underlying the city. Snow melting from the mountains above run down into the lake that is heated from the lava tunnels bellow, shrouding the city in a permanent mist. Only the tops of the guard towers are visible from the far shore.
City walls keep the mist out of the city itself, though the heat is oppressive to those unused to life in the city. Almost every evening results in rain as the air cools. The city takes advantage of that by using the first level of lava tunnels as storm sewers washing garbage and debrie into a subsurface lava pool.
The city uses the lava tunnels to create forges hotter than those available to all but the dwarves. They use the natural obsidian in the area to edge their swords, creating weapons with a sharpness and durability unobtainable by the other settlements.
