In this world the afterlife is a real place.  There are legends of mortals who descended into the bowles of the

 

 

Elven souls are absorbed, slowly, back into the earth. Elf spirits that were priests of a different diety are sometimes brought into their court upon death, but only the most devout elves can achieve this.

 

 

Dwarven souls are reforged back into their family lines. Their souls assist in the forge of their god until it is their turn to return to the mortal realm as a harder and more fierce dwarf.

 

War –

 

Eternal War defending the god. The souls of worthy warriors fight those deemed unworthy eternally. The worthy repeatedly defeat the unworthy.
